Real chocolate sauce recipe :: So D'lish. New Zealand's food blog website.

Smooth, chocolaty and creamy. There is nothing better than a real chocolate sauce. A few months ago, I wrote a recipe for a simple chocolate sauce, which is nice but is not a real chocolate sauce, made with real chocolate.

So, if you have chocolate in the house and a bit of cream, then this is the recipe that you want. It is completely decadent but completely worth it.

Real chocolate sauce

Ingredients

150ml cream
80g chocolate, chopped
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp butter
2 tbsp of your favourite liqueur

Directions
  1. Heat the cream, butter and sugar in  pot over a medium heat until it just starts to boil
  2. Take the cream off the heat and add the chocolate. Do not stir and let the heat of the cream melt the chocolate (about 5-10 minutes)
  3. Stir well to combine and add the liqueur, if required.

Serve warm.

Tips

Store left over sauce in the fridge. Reheat gently to remelt, when required.
